| Sacramento Association for the Retarded (SAR) is a nonprofit organization formed over fifty years ago at a time when services were not available for people with mental retardation. It was for this reason that parents organized SAR. Since then, SAR has been an operator and developer of many invaluable programs and services for individuals with mental retardation and their families. Today, SAR provides advocacy, future planning and conservatorship services, workshops, transportation coordination and protection services. SAR provides individual advocacy services to families having difficulty with a component of the service system. SAR also provides systemic advocacy on issues impacting groups of individuals with mental retardation in our community. |
